My boys

A photographer's children are not necessarily the most photographed children in the world. My four boys aren't very friendly with my camera (from over-exposure to it when they were younger, perhaps?), so getting anything more than family snapshot can be a real chore. My five yr old Caleb, for instance, freezes into a silly pose or a grimace whenever he sees the camera pointed his way. He won't unfreeze until he hears the shutter click, either. Because of all this, I didn't have a great portrait of the four together... until two weeks ago.

My mum and I took the boys to the beach for a walk. I took my cameras, determined that today would be the day for a portrait. They played, and I took snapshots...

Then I got serious.

If you come to my office you will see a gorgeous 30x40 inch canvas print of this portrait hanging on my wall. This little image just doesn't do it justice - you've got to see it big! (Can you tell I'm a proud and happy mum?)

Red

Monica's last fling before having her head shaved for the Cancer Council's "Shave For A Cure" involved a gorgeous red dye... It's a pity she didn't do it earlier!

A moment

A couple of months ago I was working in my office when I turned around and saw my Callum sitting like this. How could I resist grabbing my camera? It was a reminder that sometimes the best images are totally unplanned -- you just have to be ready for them when they appear before you.

Chris and Penny

When I met Chris and Penny I knew their wedding was going to be something special, and I wasn't disappointed. They are one totally in love couple, and needed no encouragement to get snuggly! Everything about the day was beautiful - the day, the people, the venues... I could rave on, but I'm better at talking with pictures than words. :)

Thank you Chris and Penny for inviting me to be a part of your day!

I love wedding season!

When I started this news blog I was determined to update it regularly. Well... that hasn't happened. Sorry! So I'm going to try to catch up a bit, starting with weddings...

Because I don't accept bookings for Saturday weddings, I have to turn down many of the couples interested in my work. (If you are engaged and have yet to choose a date, consider a Sunday wedding!)

My weddings so far this year have all been for adorable couples. Here are a few images from three of them:

Jazz

Tom O'Halloran invited me into the recording studio last month to document his latest album. It was loud, but a good kind of loud! I'm looking forward to hearing the album when it comes out, as the three trio members were in different rooms for the recording, so I only ever got part of the musical story, so to speak. Here are some images from the session.
